What alterations can you do?

Our tailors take up and let down hems on trousers, jeans, skirts and dresses, take in and let out waists, shorten and lengthen sleeves, taper legs, replace zips, sew on buttons and repair seams, tears and knitwear. If you are not sure whether something can be altered, bring it in and we will take a look.

Do you alter bridesmaid, prom and evening dresses?

Yes. We shorten and take in evening and occasion dresses, adjust straps and add modesty pieces. Bead and sequin work is priced on request.

Can you replace a broken zip?

Yes. We replace zips in jeans, trousers, skirts, dresses, jackets and long coats.

Do I need to try the garment on?

For hems and fitting alterations it helps to come in wearing the shoes you will wear with the garment, so we can pin it at exactly the right length.

Can you clean it too?

Yes. We can dry clean or launder and press your garment after it has been altered, so it comes back ready to wear.

Can you shorten trousers and jeans?

Yes. We shorten trousers with a plain hem, tape or turn-up, and we can keep the original hem on jeans so they look just as they did when new. We also taper legs and take in or let out waists.

Where can I get clothes altered near me?

At any of our four shops: Heaton and Gosforth in Newcastle, Low Fell in Gateshead, and Hexham in Northumberland. Bring your garment in and our tailors will pin and measure it, or book a collection and we will pick it up from you.

Are you a tailor or seamstress in Newcastle?

Yes. Our tailors do the same work you would take to a tailor or seamstress: hems, taking in and letting out, sleeves, zips and repairs. Drop your clothes at our Heaton, Gosforth, Low Fell or Hexham shop, or book a collection.

Do you alter suits?

Yes. We shorten suit trousers and sleeves, take in and let out jackets and trousers, and can dry clean the suit afterwards so it comes back ready to wear.

Do you repair clothes as well as alter them?

Yes. We repair split seams, tears, holes and knitwear, replace broken zips and sew on buttons, so your favourite clothes last longer.
